From the rise of Neue Deutsche Welle (NDW) in West Germany to underground punk and rock scenes in the GDR, young people on both sides of the Wall used sound and style to express individuality, resistance, humor, and hope.

This exhibition explores how the 1980s became one of the most culturally transformative decades in modern German history.

Vom Aufstieg der Neuen Deutschen Welle (NDW) in Westdeutschland bis hin zu den Underground-Punk- und Rockszenen in der DDR nutzten junge Menschen auf beiden Seiten der Mauer Klang und Stil, um Individualität, Widerstand, Humor und Hoffnung auszudrücken.

Diese Ausstellung beleuchtet, wie die 1980er-Jahre zu einem der kulturell prägendsten Jahrzehnte der modernen deutschen Geschichte wurden.
