Class Description

Have you ever wondered how the fermentation of Sauerkraut works or what pickling is? In this class our Food Scientist will teach you about the Science of German Food. You will learn about Bacterial Fermentation/ Fermented Foods, Pickling, Brining & Curing and Impact of pH in cooking. This class is meant for German students on the B1, B2 and C1 level and meets up at the DANK Haus every Monday for a 4-week-period. By the end of the class you will not only be more familiar with the science behind German food but you will also have a whole new set of vocabulary not learned in our core classes.

This class runs for 2.25 hours. This class covers CEFR Level B1 and above.

Meeting UP

The in-person class meets 4 times - on every Monday, July 6 - July 27, from 6:30 - 8:00pm at the DANK 4th floor.

PREREQUISITES

You have completed at least the Beginner IV class? Perfect - You're good to go! If in doubt, please refer to the Placement Test or contact us at languageschool@dankhaus.com.

Price

The cost of this class is $150 for friends of the DANK Haus and $175 for all others. If you're interested to become a friend of ours, click here!

A late fee of $30 will be added to the respective price for any registrants enrolling on or after June 22, 2026.

There need to be at least 6 students in order for this class to come together.
