Dear Sirs Documentary Film Screening

DANK Haus German American Cultural Center will be hosting a screening of the documentary Dear Sirs on October 5th in the second floor Brauhaus Room. Doors open at 6:00 pm and the film will start at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for Friends of DANK, and $10 for veterans. Each ticket includes a beer from the Brauhaus bar. Film makers Mark Pedri and Carrie McCarthy will be in attendance, and a Q&A session will be held with them following the screening.

Dear Sirs honors and remembers the history of those who fought in WWII by retracing the journey of American POW Silvio Pedri. Growing up, filmmaker Mark Pedri never heard Silvio’s story, but ten years after his grandfather's death, Mark found an archive of old photos and letters that changed the rest of his life. The discovery inspired Mark and his wife Carrie to bike over 500 miles across Europe, piecing together the route that Silvio took in 1944, in an effort to illuminate his grandfather’s experiences and better understand the man who helped raise him.
