Once again, the DANK Haus is opening its doors for one of the greatest contests on earth: the Eurovision Song Contest.
Every year, millions of people tune in to watch this wacky, international spectacle. Last year, the winner was the singer Netta from Israel with the song "Toy", written by Doron Medalie and Stav Beger.
So far, Germany has only won the contest twice: in 1982 with Nicole and her unforgettable “Ein bißchen Frieden," and in 2010 with Lena and her song "Satellite". Germany is noteworthy for having competed in the contest more than any other country; they have competed in every contest since the first edition in 1956 except for the 1996 contest when the nation was eliminated in a pre-contest elimination round.
As one of the longest-running television shows in the world, the Eurovision Song Contest could be called the "granddaddy" of all singing contests. Since 1956, member countries of the European Broadcasting Union have sent their candidates to compete for the best performance. Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for the other countries' songs to determine the most popular song in the competition.
DANK Haus will stream the last day of the contest live from Israel. Channel the European in you and come to cheer for your favorite country and song!
