American Jewish Community - FILM SCREENING of Kurt Landauer - A Life For Football.

AJC Partners with DANK Haus and German Soccer Club for Special Film Screening January 23, 2018 – Chicago – AJC Chicago is partnering with the DANK Haus and FC Bayern.

The film depicts the story of the FC Bayern Soccer Club’s first president, Kurt Landauer, who fled Nazi Germany during World War II, and returned after the war to rebuild the soccer team and start a new chapter in German-Jewish relations. Earlier in his career, before the war, Landauer had been one of players for the team, which had Jewish roots.

The screening will take place on Thursday, February 1, 5:30 – 8:00 PM at the Dank Haus, and will include remarks from FC Bayern Munich Representative Benno Ruwe, and a discussion with the German Consul General Herbert Quelle.
“The inspiring story of Kurt Landauer is an example to all of us about the lasting impact a single individual can make,” said AJC Chicago Director Amy Stoken. “We are delighted to join with the DANK Haus and FC Bayern to present and discuss this remarkable story of vision and courage.”
