The Education Director oversees all management and operations for the DANK Haus Language Program which includes a small Weekday and Saturday Kinderschule, Adult language program and Summer camp / language classes.
Classroom management, & evaluation skills
Conducting instructor observation, evaluation, and guidance
Evaluating curricula, teaching methods, and programs to determine their effectiveness
Working with a variety of delivery formats & pedagogical technologies
Growth of the institute as defined by enrollments, revenues, etc.
Recruiting and hiring instructors including contract negotiations and staff oversight
Managing the departmental budget
Participating in professional development opportunities
Attending required committee meetings (monthly Education committee, monthly board of directors meeting, and extra school functions)
Work collaboratively with Director of Marketing and Events, Museum and Development Director and facilities staff
Performing other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Fluent German Language Skills (B2/C2 Level)
Minimum of three years teaching German as a Second Language
Some administrative experience including supervisory skills in an intensive German program
DSD I and II Pruefer Zertifikat
DCFS Knowledge / Experience
Superior oral and written communication skills in English and in German
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, initiative, and teamwork
Demonstrated collaborative skills
Conflict resolution skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, student-oriented environment
Computer and technology skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
Experience with online teaching platforms
Ability to relate well to students & parents
Planning, analytical, and budgeting skills
Must pass a background check.
This is a full-time 40hr/wk position.
*Please note: The director is expected to periodically attend language school programming outside of traditional working hours (e.g. Saturday mornings and weekday evening classes) or be on call during these events. The director is encouraged to flex his/her hours accordingly in order to accommodate that requirement.
This is a salary position compensated at $50,000 to $70,000 per year depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, dental coverage, vision, life insurance and 401K retirement program enrollment
