Peace Project

Course Description: The Village, an opera by living composer Joel Mandelbaum, will have its European premiere in Hamburg and our students have the exclusive opportunity to be involved to develop and create art in response to the remembrance of the events of World War II. Students will have discussions about marginalization and community unity. Prompts such as "peace" or "community" will help our students to create works of art that will be displayed at the gallery in the DANK Haus and will then be sent to Germany to be displayed in Hamburg at the Opera! 

Project Structure: 6 Monthly Meetings 

September 19, 2020-   Introduction to the Project

October 3, 2020 -         Meeting with Phillip Orenstein/Q and A (2:00-4:00pm)

October 24, 2020 -       Discussion / Project Progress / Q and A (2:00-3:00pm)

November 14, 2020 -   Discussion / Project Progress / Q and A (2:00-3:00pm)

December 5, 2020 -     Discussion / Project Progress / Q and A (2:00-3:00pm)

January 9, 2021-          Final Discussion/ Project Wrap-Up

Participation in the project is free and students will receive all art materials for free!
