The Programming Committee is responsible for planning and executing events at DANK Haus German American Cultural Center. The committee works in tandem with our staff to organize our regular event series, including German Cinema NowStammtisch Open Haus, and Kulturküche.  Another purview of the Programming Committee is to approve proposals for Fine Arts exhibits and concerts.  In addition to these monthly activities, the committee strives to foster an engaging social and cultural environment for members, brainstorming other ways to connect Chicago's German American community.  If you have a creative mind, and experience dealing with planning or staffing events, consider sharing your skills.

In recent years, the Programming Committee has advised the board and staff on projects including:

  • Identifying themes & supplies needed for Stammtisch and other events
  • Fundraising for a new movie screen
  • Creating a classical music concert series
  • Developing more sports-centric events including World Cup, EuroCup and international soccer tournaments
  • Continuing to identify relevant implementable events that reach a wide array of audiences
  • Planning fundraisers, including a new wine and fashion-focused event called "Vintage Deutsch" and a Renaissance themed "Mad Regals Winter Madrigal Dinner"

Purpose: Support general membership and Board; institutional history
